SOMATIC EXPERIENCING

Trauma isn't a Life Sentence

The good news, however, is that trauma does not have to be a life sentence. Contrary to popular belief, trauma can be healed and in many cases, prevented. Trauma is less of a disease than a state of "dis-ease."

Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a gentle, innovative and integrative approach which helps access and unlock our inherent ability to self regulate and restore vibrancy after stress and threat. With appropriate guidance into the body’s instinctive "felt sense," SE employs awareness of body sensations to help people "renegotiate" and heal their traumas rather than relive them. By completing the innate responses that were frozen during their state of overwhelm, human animals can "thaw," learning to naturally move through trauma and heal. As a result, people frequently experience a dramatic reduction in or dissappearance of their traumatic symptoms.

Sandra Daitch has been practicing Somatic Experiencing since 1998. She is available in Arlington, Ma for private session including required sessions for certification of Somatic Experiencing students.
